Glossary

What is Anchor text?

The visible, clickable text of a link, which tells users and search engines what the destination is about.

Anchor types include exact match ("invoice software"), branded ("FinderLaunch"), naked URL, and generic ("click here").

A natural link profile is mostly branded and naked-URL anchors. Too many exact-match anchors can look manipulative.

Why it matters when you launch

Most directory listings use your product name as the anchor, which is exactly what a healthy new site's profile should look like.
