About Clearcote

Clearcote is an open-source, de-Googled Chromium build that embeds fingerprint and identity controls at the engine level. It provides reproducible, readable builds (BSD-3), no telemetry/phone-home, and drop-in SDKs for Playwright & Puppeteer (also available via npm, PyPI, NuGet). Controls are compiled into the C++ binary (not injected JS), enabling coherent per-site identities, native browser behavior, and privacy-first automation for scraping, testing, and browser automation workflows.

Key Features

  • Engine-level fingerprint controls compiled into the Chromium binary (not injected JS)
  • Drop-in compatibility with Playwright & Puppeteer and language SDKs (Python, npm, .NET via NuGet)
  • De-Googled base (ungoogled-chromium) with no telemetry or phone-home
  • Reproducible, readable patches and signed builds
  • Coherent per-site identities (consistent signals) for realistic automation

Who is this for?

Developers and teams using browser automation (Playwright/Puppeteer) who need privacy-preserving, anti-detect browser binaries for scraping, QA, or automation.
