About yunit
yunit is a browser extension that subtly translates select words on any webpage by showing short translations above the line, preserving sentence flow. Select any word or phrase to translate it in-place, click to keep words for later review, and encounter kept words again gradually to reinforce learning. On YouTube, lyrics are translated line-by-line; a Premium plan adds live captions for videos without subtitles (speaker language above, your language beneath). Free to use with no account required; also available to try in a web reading room.
Key Features
- Inline micro-translations: a few words per line get short translations above the text
- On-demand translations: select any word or phrase to translate in place
- Keep words: click to save words which reappear later for reinforcement
- YouTube support: line-by-line translated lyrics; Premium offers live captions for uncaptionsed videos
Who is this for?
Language learners and bilingual readers who want passive, in-context vocabulary acquisition while browsing and watching videos.
