Glossary

What is a title tag?

The HTML <title> of a page, shown as the clickable headline in search results and browser tabs.

The title is one of the strongest on-page relevance signals. Keep the main keyword near the start and the whole title around 50-60 characters.

Each page should have a unique title.

Why it matters when you launch

For your homepage, "Product Name: what it does for whom" usually beats a bare brand name, since nobody searches for a brand that's a week old.
